We are delighted to announce a Commnet2 workshop to discuss a UK Future Networks Research Centre (FNRC) which will be taking place on 7th March 2017 at Adastral Park in Ipswich. Please click for a summary of the background and aims of the FNRC: CN2 – FNRC – Workshop Information v2.
As part of the meeting we will be asking for your input, as a prominent member of the communications and networking academic or industrial community, into defining the big scientific challenges that should be tackled through investment in this area. Note that this workshop does not relate to a known specific route or level of investment, but is more intended as a platform for canvassing a range of views and inputs on the proposed centre.
The aim of the proposed FNRC is to enable access to real-world scale experiments and to accelerate research from the academic and industrial labs through to implementation. To that end the objective of this meeting is to seek your views on what experimental facilities and operating models for the centre would be required to achieve this vision, and the feedback we gather will go towards making a funding case for key elements this centre.
If you are able to attend, we would like you to think in advance about which research and technology translation challenges in your field could be solved by having access to such a networks research centre; what type of facilities should be developed; and what governance and access modes to the facilities should be put in place.
To register your interest in attending
We expect the workshop to be popular and spaces limited so we are inviting community members to submit expressions of interest with brief justifications so that we avoid oversubscription.
The Events Team will then review these submissions on an ad-hoc basis and we aim to let you know whether your expression has been successful or not as soon as possible.
